Если спросить у татарина, что является для него настоящим национальным праздником, без сомнения, каждый ответит — Сабантуй. Сабантуй — это праздник посевных, радостный отдых после проделанной работы.
Издавна многие народы, закончив дела на полях, веселились: плясали и пели, соревновались друг с другом в различных состязаниях. Примечательно, что данная традиция сохранилась именно у татарского народа. Во многих городах и деревнях России, а также за рубежом, в начале лета празднуют Сабантуй. Не остался в стороне и наш город Киров. Радостно заметим, что кировский Сабантуй отпраздновал свой первый, самый маленький, 5-летний юбилей.
Утро выдалось пасмурным. Все участники с опаской смотрели на хмурое небо, надеясь, что непогода пройдет стороной. По сложившейся традиции местом проведения Сабантуя выбрали парк в Нововятском районе.
В центре расположилась сцена, вокруг нее — широкое кольцо из скамеек для отдыха гостей. Рядом со сценой, на виду у всех, проходили конкурсы-состязания, в том числе самый главный — курэш.
Началось мероприятие с торжественной части, в которой представители Администрации Кирова дали напутствие веселому празднику, отметили большую значимость его в сохранении национальной культуры и объединении народов. И вдруг начал накрапывать дождь. Лица всех пришедших погрустнели. Но гость из Казани, народный артист республики Татарстан, Искандер Биктахиров, бодро заявил, что веселыми песнями и мелодиями певцы разгонят тучи. Удивительно, но вскоре дождь перестал идти, а через некоторое время тучи вовсе разошлись и появились солнечные лучи!
Первым конкурсом было перетягивание палки. Поначалу желающих участвовать в нем было мало. Но постепенно их становилось все больше и больше. Во-первых, благодаря призам, которые получали каждые из участников. Во-вторых, той радости, которая была на их лицах. Подбегала все новая и новая детвора, подходили в качестве зрителей люди постарше. Под конец, все призы были розданы. Дети, не успевшие поиграть, расстроились. Узнав же, что проводятся и другие конкурсы, они с радостью бежали туда.
В нововятский парк прибывали и прибывали люди. Уследить за происходящим на Сабантуе становилось все сложнее. На сцене выступали различные коллективы Кирова, исполняя татарские песни и танцы. На площадку перед сценой вышли первые борцы. Начались состязания по борьбе мешками на буме, конкурс по прыжкам в мешках на скорость.
Радостно было смотреть на окружающих. Детвора веселой стайкой перебегала от соревнования к соревнованию. На лицах взрослых сияли улыбки, будто они окунулись в детство, вспомнили что-то родное. Каждый мог найти себе конкурс по душе. Мужчины, юноши, мальчики могли похвастаться ловкостью и силой в борьбе курэш, армрестлинге, в бою мешками. Для тех, кто хотел продемонстрировать ловкость и скорость -ношение ложки с яйцом во рту. На меткость — разбивание глиняного горшка палкой, но при условии, что завязаны глаза. На выносливость – ношение воды на коромыслах.
Конкурс на доставание денег из катыка вызвал большой ажиотаж. Желающих оказалось много, и даже когда все монеты были извлечены, некоторые хотели еще окунуться лицом в катык, в надежде, что там что-то осталось.
Традиционно важной частью Сабантуя являются скачки на лошадях. К сожалению, их не было, но были повозки, запряженные лошадьми, катавшие детей.
