Кирове (Вятке) вышла новая книга известного историка-краеведа, дипломанта ЮНЕСКО Сергея Павловича Серкина под названием «Аргументы и факты к пониманию реальных событий древней истории Вятского края» (Вятка, 2015.) Исследованием истории Вятского края он занимается с 1992 г. , является автором и издателем ряда книг по истории древней Вятской земли., среди этих книг: «Тайны земли Вятской» (2008), «Тайны земли Вятской в этнографических и географических картах» (2009), «О древней истории земли Вятской IX-XVI вв. (2012), «Аргументы и факты к пониманию реальных событий древней истории земли Вятской» (2013) и др. В своих научных трудах Сергей Серкин доказывает, что в 9-16 веках Вятская (Нухратская) земля принадлежала татарам.
Аннотация к книге «Аргументы и факты к пониманию реальных событий древней истории Вятского края»:
«Историк-краевед, член Союза краеведов России Сергей Павлович Серкин на основании многочисленной и разноплановой информации, имеющейся в настоящее время в распоряжении исторической науки, продолжает представлять читателям факты, свидетельствующие о властвовании на Вятке татарских князей по 1489 г. (по мнению д.и.н. Саляма Алишева 1478 г.). Город Вятка, так же как и река, имел в тот период тюркское наименование Нукрат (Нохрат) и располагался на месте современного города Слободского.
Представленные автором материалы позволяют сделать вывод, что Вятская земля находилась с древних времен сначала под протекторатом Камской Болгарии, затем Золотой Орды, позднее Казанского царства. Великие князья Московские в XV веке делали неоднократные попытки присоединения Вятки к своим территориям. Но все они положительного результата не дали. Даже взятие Вятки в 1489 (1478) г. не явилось окончательным вхождением в состав Московского государства. В конце 30-х годов XVI в. Вятская земля оказалась под властью казанского царя Сафа-Гирея.»

К сожаления, история Вятской земли очень мало изучана татарскими учеными, до сих пор нет фундаментальных трудов, освещающих булгаро-татарский период северных краев страны. В последнее годы кандидат исторических наук Фаузия Байрамова написала ряд научно-популярных трудов, посвященных истории Ямала и Югры (Западная Сибирь), Вологодской, Пермской (Чердынь) и Кировской областей, в том числе, и о древней истории Вятско-Нухратской земли. Пришло время переосмыслить историю с точки зрения булгаро-татарского фактора на этих краях. Как сказал ученый из Казани К.А.Руденко в своем отзыве на книгу С.Серкина:
«…С.П.Серкин пришел к выводу, что необходимо пересмотреть традиционный взгляд на этно-политическую историю Вятского края, связав ее с Волжской Булгарией, Золотой Ордой и Казанским ханством…»
