Отметили и политическую жизнь области — в последнее время много татар стали представителями органов законодательной власти и занимают высокие посты.
Хочу упомянуть ещё один момент: нас, трёх астраханских депутатов, пригласил Ф.Мухаметшин. Разговор шел о Казанской улице, чтобы там был представлен небольшой уголок Татарстана, эту идею одобрил сам М.Ш. Шаймиев.

Первое чувство — восхищение, потому что татары всего мира собрались вместе. Везде звучала татарская речь, будь то делегат из Швеции или Канады: слышишь чистый родной, свой язык. Поразился, что всех тянет на родину. Познакомился с одним канадцем-бизнесменом, он в 1996 уехал из России, сейчас успешно занимается строительством, но говорит, что очень скучает по родине, и при первой возможности приезжает в Россию, в Казань.
Не устаю удивляться темпам развития столицы Татарстана. Трудно поверить, что 6 лет назад по благоустроенности наши города были равны.
Казань я посетил в апреле 2007 года, и снова поразился, что за полгода город стал ещё краше. И в этом немалая заслуга президента РТ. Не зря в народе Минтимера Шарипови-ча Шаймиева называют любовно «бабай» — мудрый, дальновидный политик, благодаря его руководству Казань превратилась в такую столицу.
Съезд для меня — не только интересное мероприятие, но и полезное. На секции общался с татарами-бизнесмены, которые занимаются строительством, узнал от них много интересного. Встречался и с казанцами-строителями, обменялись опытом. Очень важно -работа по программе «Ветхое жильё», что пригодится и нам.
И еще одно незабываемое впечатление — встреча с председателем Госсовета РТ Ф.Му-хаметшиным по просьбе астраханского губернатора А.А.Жилкина. Около часа беседовали о проблемах, о подготовке к юбилею города.
Уезжал с чувством гордости за татарский народ. Приятно, что увеличивается количество татар, которые влияют на мировую политику, экономику. В нашей нации много грамотных, культурных, интеллигентных, образованных людей.
